We began this project by drawing out the design. It was inspired by Yellena James. We then traced them onto a plexiglass. I then printed it onto the paper. It was a long process but it was worth it in the end. I chose yellow because i liked the way it looked with my design. My intention for this project was to create a fun design. This project was hard because we had to sketch the exact thing onto the plexiglass. I feel that my strength is the fun concept of the design. One weakness would be the messiness of the prints. One thing I took away from this assignment was how to better print using dry-point.

Before we began this project we had 5 separate days where we were given a prompt and then one class period to complete a design relating to that prompt. We then created a full conceptual design using components from the small designs. I chose those (the top three images) because they were my strongest pieces. I decided to use chalk because I learned from this project that I am best at art compared to other types of media. My intention for this project was to create an expressive piece that portrays a message of the effects of pollution and industrialization on the future of our world (represented by the eggs). This project was hard because we had to create the conceptual designs in one class period. I feel that my strength is the expressive nature of the piece. One weakness would be the lack of detail. One thing I took away from this assignment was how to create a piece of art in a small amount of time.
I started this project by picking a color and experimentinG wiTh background designs and colors. I chose green because I thought I could use red to complement it. I then took several selfies in attempt to find the perfect one. It was hard to chose one but I finally chose this one because of the lines on the forehead and the emotions of surprise, happiness, and sadness on the face it somehow expresses all in one. I painted the background and then traced the image on to the canvas as shown above by Maddy. I used white chalk to sketch on the face and I went over that in black paint to help see the lines. I began painting using a mixture of greens, blues, yellows, white and black. I enjoyed this project because I had more freedom to choose what route I wanted to go with it in terms of colors, facial expression, and overall presentation of the painting. After I finished the face I went in with red paint and used the same criss-cross motion I used in the background to create a clean, yet expressive background that helps the green face pop out from the canvas. This project was difficult because of the detail required. My strength would be the eyes and my weakness mould be the eye brows and mouth. One thing I learned doing this project was how to use value using paint and how to stay up until 2am working because of a competition the next day. Overall, I am very happy with the way this turned out. I believe this is my best work as of now and after seeing what I was capable of in doing this project I am excited to see where I can go and what I can do in the future.
I started this project by picking out an insect that interested me. I liked the bee because it seemed strong yet fragile at the same time. I then chose five images that I liked and printed them. I chose one image and drew it for practice before I started the project. I used graphite pencils for this project. The lightest graphite pencil color I used was 6H and the darkest was 8B. Before I drew the bug in my sketch book, I created a value scale to help me identify which pencil I needed to use for which value. I then began my final project by creating my composition and deciding where I would place each bug and in what size. Once I chose my composition I began drawing the bugs. This project was hard because it required much patience and detail. I feel that my strength is my close up in the bottom left corner. I like the detail and value usage in this particular area. One weakness would be the detail on the whole piece in general. I do not think I used enough detail in any of the bug drawings. I also wish I could have spent more time on the bug on the top right. I feel that it is my weakest one. One thing I took away from this assignment was how to use the whole value scale in my piece. I also learned how to better sharpen my lines and make the bugs look more realistic.
